Open burning season begins on Wednesday, January 15th. 2025, and ends on Thursday, May 1st, 2025. A burning permit is required and may be obtained online for a fee of $25. Your payment receipt will serve as your burn permit for the season. To complete a burn permit application online, visit www.halifax-ma.org/OpenBurningOnline.

Although online applications are preferred, paper application submissions and check payments are still available. The burn permit application is available for download using the link below. Completed applications along with a check payment must be brought or mailed to the Fire Department, 438 Plymouth Street. A drop box is located outside of the station entrance for after-hours submissions. Checks should be made out to the Town of Halifax in the amount of $25. Your check payment will serve as your burn permit for the season.

Additional information regarding open burning is available on the town’s website at www.halifax-ma.org/OpenBurning. Residents must call the open burning line at (781) 293-1750 after 9 am daily to see if open burning is permitted for the day.
